What ingredients do you will need?
Dough ingredients:
- 4 egg yolks
- 1 egg white
- 2 cups (300gr.) of all-purpose Flour
- 6 ½ fl. oz. (200 gr.) of Sour Cream
- 9 ¾ fl. oz. (300 gr) of yogurt
- ½ teaspoon of salt
- 2 teaspoons (10 gr.) of Baking Powder
Ingredients for the filling:
- 7 oz. (200 gr.) of chopped spring onions
- 5 boiled eggs
- 1 tablespoon of butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optionally, you can add dill to your taste.
Ingredients for Greasing:
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 tablespoon of sour cream
- Sesame seeds to taste
Step-by-Step On How to Make this Recipe:
Pour the yogurt, eggs, seeds, and salt into a bowl large enough. Mix well all the ingredients and then sift the flour over them.
Incorporate the flour into the dough with a whisk. You need to get a consistency that is neither too fluid nor too thick. You should get a similar result as in the picture below:
Set aside the dough to rest until we will get ready the ingredients for filling our tart.
First of all, chop finely the onions and eggs. Add the melted butter over. Salt and pepper to your taste.
Mix all the ingredients well and we just finished the most difficult part. Now, we just need to bring all the ingredients into a baking tray.
Preheat the oven. After that, we can prepare the tray in which we will bake the tart.
For that, line the tray with baking paper, and grease it well with oil or if you want an extra flavour, use melted butter.
Now, let’s return back to the dough. Add the baking powder to the plate, mix well, and pour half of the volume into the baking tray.
Quick Note: It is important to add the baking powder immediately before pouring the dough into the baking tray because when it reacts with the yogurt, the dough will become fluffy. Because this reaction takes a short time, we must do this procedure immediately before pouring the dough into the tray.
Spread the filling evenly over the dough from the tray.
After that, pour over the rest of the dough and make sure to cover the whole filling.
This step is an optional one, but if you omit it, you won’t get such a nicely browned tart. It’s up to you.
Take a bowl and mix the remaining egg yolk with a tablespoon of sour cream and a pinch of salt.
Lightly grease the surface of the tart with this mixture and sprinkle over with sesame seeds.
Place the baking tray in the preheated oven at 350 °F (180 °C) for about 45 minutes.
Quick Note: Baking time may differ from oven to oven because not all of them are working in the same way. The cake may be ready in 35 to 45 minutes. A good hint will be to test your cake with a toothpick to understand when it is done.
The egg tart with green onion and sesame seeds is ready to be served. Originally, it is served with a tablespoon of sour cream and optionally with a small punch of dill.
