Hi There! Nice to Meet You!
We are Alex and Victoria! The couple behind the Go Cook Yummy where we are sharing with you delicious and most importantly healthy recipes that you can make at home without spending all day in the kitchen. As we are new parents and we don’t have all the time in the world, we are using different kitchen tools like an air fryer or slow cooker that are helping us to shorten the cooking process and to make it a lot easier.
On Go Cook Yummy, we are trying not to share just regular recipes, we are trying to add a little bit of ourselves to each of the recipes.
Instead of just telling, do a, b, c, we are trying to explain why we add this specific ingredient to the recipe, and if you don’t have it under your hands, what you can substitute it for and get the same results.
All of our recipes come with step-by-step detailed photos and instructions that you can easily follow to get great dishes even if you are not experienced in the kitchen.
For Whom Is This Blog?
Go Cook Yummy will be handy for those who want to learn something more about food. For those who want to get some more details about why you should do specific things.
For those who are tired of eating semi-finished products, and are trying to cook something healthy and delicious at home from scratch. It is not as difficult as you may think.
We are trying to make popular recipes more healthy. We don’t use store-bought products.
Let’s take it as an example.
If we are making a burger, we will bake our own burger buns, we will make the burger patties from scratch, and our own caramelized onions, sauces, and so on.
Yes, you may think that there is a lot of work, and you are partially right. But you can make all these ingredients in a larger quantity and use them for a few dishes.
Yes, it is a lot easier to use all the time the store-bought, but because we have a wonderful small kid, we are trying to educate him to eat good quality healthy food, and I’m not referring here to trends.
On Go Cook Yummy you will find delicious food that we truly love like our mothers were feeding us in childhood from the ingredients that we know without tons of preservatives in them.
What You Will Find on Our Blog?
- Dishes that actually are tasty. Not only on the photos.
- Healthy recipes from scratch. Say no to frozen store-bought ingredients. We will make them from scratch. It’s simpler than you think.
- Popular recipes with a little part of ourselves.
- We are using everyday ingredients that you can easily find in your local grocery stores.
- Also, you will find some fancy dishes for some special occasions.
What You Won’t Find on Our Blog?
- Food that looks awesome, but the taste is blah. No-no-no. All the dishes we prepare and share on GCY, we prepare for ourselves. They are not just for photos.
- We don’t follow trends. We make what we love and what we enjoy eating ourselves.
- Recipes that sacrifice taste for the sake of making them healthy and with fewer calories. Don’t get us wrong, we are trying to make our recipes as healthy as we can but that doesn’t mean that our food should be delicious.
- Frozen dishes that you throw out of the box and just put in the air fryer. The recipes for those dishes you can find on the back of the box.
A Little Bit of Ourselves
Right after I got my degree, I started to work in the bank’s industries then later became a chief accountant and worked for years in that industry.
Yes, I like numbers, but after time have passed, I noticed that I love food and everything related more than numbers.
I was super passionate about the food from the day I remember myself. I started to cook in the kitchen when I was 6. I noticed that all my spare time I was watching different cooking shows. Actually, I had in the background the TV running all the time with different recipes.
I was trying to understand all behind the scenes of each recipe.
Why did this specific recipe fail and why we should add this specific ingredient to it?
It is not only about the taste.
I started loving food even more when I started to get compliments from my friends and family and they were asking for the recipes of dishes that they tried when they visited us.
As I experimented by myself, I didn’t have an exact recipe, I was thinking that it would be easier for me to have a small corner on the internet where I can share exactly how I’m doing my things.
It is worth mentioning that this blog wouldn’t be possible without the help of my husband, Alex. He is behind all the photos and the technical part on Go Cook Yummy.
He was a graphical designer for more than 15 years and when we found that we will have a baby and that thing overlapped with the COVID lockdown, we decided to give it a try and build something together where we could spend more time together in the family.
Where Are We From?
We are from a small but beautiful country, in the heart of Europe, called Moldova. It is situated between Ukraine and Romania in the center of Europe.
It is well known for its comfort food, for the hospitable people, the beautiful nature from there, the traditional national ornamental patterns that are now becoming trendy, and the largest brands starting to use them in their latest collections and of course for the Moldovian Wines.
Also, in Moldova, you will find the two world’s largest cellars. Milestii Mici is the largest cellar in the world by the number of wine bottles. In 2005, Milestii Mici was registered in the Guinness World Records as the biggest wine collection in the world. The complex holds nearly 2 million bottles and has a surface of 120 miles (200 km) across different labyrinthine roadways.
The second cellar is Cricova which has a collection of 1.3 million bottles and a surface of 75 miles (120km).
Last year, the wines from Moldova, started to be largely appreciated around the globe, winning different medals and prizes and a good amount of wines from Moldova are placed in the top 1% of the world.
If you haven’t had a chance to try a good quality wine from Moldova, I highly encourage you to do that before they become popular and the price will skyrocket.
Why Did We Start This Blog?
I was starting to think about a food blog after my husband pointed out to me that all my friends were asking me for my recipes or when they tried a specific recipe from the internet and it didn’t work and they were asking me why it didn’t work and how they could fix the recipe in the future.
Somehow, I became a food expert among my friends without realizing that.
We slowly started this food blog in August of 2019 where we shared our favorite recipes with our friends.
After the Covid thing happened, and I was already waiting for my wonderful baby, I decided that I should listen to my heart and pause my love for numbers.
I didn’t know that you can make a living from a food blog. My husband told me that I can experiment in the kitchen however I want, and he will take the rest of the work on himself and publish it on our blog.
I can’t describe my feelings when I notice that I can do what I like the most. Playing in the kitchen with different ingredients.
From that day, I decided that I want to keep all my attention on food and never look back.
How Does Our Blog Evolve?
If you will navigate through our old recipes you may observe that they are more complex. We used tons of ingredients to offer a special thin taste to our dishes. Yes, they are great, we are still cooking, and nowadays some of the more complex dishes, but the downsize is that you need a few hours of your time and then a few dozen of dishes to clean after that.
In those recipes, we tried to find ourselves and experiment with different ingredients. As time passed, we became parents and the time for us started to have another meaning and value. We try to spend as much time as we have with our children and less in the kitchen.
We jump from complex recipes to simple recipes that we can make in a shorter time.
It is worth mentioning that even if we are preparing simpler dishes, this doesn’t mean that they are not as good as our old complex dishes.
We started to make more recipes in the air fryer because you can put something on the table in the minimum time and we also use the slow cooker because you throw in a few ingredients and the food cooks by itself without our attention.
