Why Only 4 Ingredients?
The philosophy behind Go Cook Yummy is centered on maximizing flavor and minimizing complexity, merging both to present recipes with just 4 ingredients.
Here’s why:
- Higher Accessibility: With only four ingredients, there’s a good chance you already have everything you need right in your kitchen. No more last-minute grocery runs or sifting through a cluttered pantry. And on the off chance you’re missing something? Don’t fret! We provide substitute suggestions to ensure you can still whip up a delicious meal without a hitch.
- Boosted Creativity: Cooking with a limited palette pushes you to think outside the box. It’s not just about throwing ingredients together; it’s about understanding the role and flavor profile of each component. Every ingredient becomes crucial, and you’ll find yourself becoming more strategic and inventive in your culinary choices.
- Simplified Cooking Experience: As mentioned, fewer ingredients mean less mess, less expense, and less time spent in the kitchen. But it also means a clearer focus on taste and technique, allowing the true flavors to shine through.
We believe that with the right ingredients and a dash of creativity, simplicity can lead to culinary perfection.
A Little Background About Us
We have been married for more than 10 years and we are living currently in the eastern of Europe, in Moldova. A small country that is well known for one of the best wines in the world and it has also the biggest wine collection in the world. The complex holds nearly 2 million bottles and has a surface of 120 miles (200 km) across different labyrinthine roadways.
It is a small but beautiful country with its hills and landscapes that leave you speechless:
My (Victoria) own culinary adventure started when I was just 6 years old. I would often find myself in the kitchen, playing with different ingredients and flavors. Any free time I had was spent engrossed in cooking shows, soaking in every recipe detail, with the TV’s soft hum always in the background.
I didn’t just watch and move on; I challenged myself to recreate the dishes I saw. I wanted to understand the science behind cooking, always curious about why some recipes failed and others succeeded. I was particularly interested in how each ingredient affected the dish.
I studied Banking and Finance and built a successful career as a chief accountant. Meanwhile, Alex carved out a successful 15-year career as a web designer. Despite our different professional paths, we both had a deep love for food that went back to our earliest memories. Our love for food was more than just a pastime.
When my culinary experiments began receiving rave reviews from friends and family, they would often ask for the recipes of the delightful meals they just tasted when they came to visit us.
As I made up most recipes on the fly, there were no hard and fast instructions to share with them.
Then, one late dinner night, Alex asked me why I would not post the recipes online to make it easier for me to share them with the rest of the family and friends. I thought that this was super complex to setup so, I didn’t think about it.
In the nearest weekend, Alex surprised me with the Go Cook Yummy blog that was ready to work and to share the recipes with our families. The rest is history.
Slowly but surely, I started to share our favorite recipes with our friends on the blog. After a while, I noticed that not only my friends and family were reading and trying my recipes.
This was an “aha moment.”
Then the pandemic hit. As we were awaiting the arrival of our baby, I decided to listen to my heart and put my number-crunching days on hold, put more energy into the blog, and sign up for a venture that would allow us to spend more time together.
The rest is history.
How Does Our Blog Evolve?
We started with many ingredients and long cooking times. They tasted great, but took a lot of time and made many dishes dirty.
Then, after the child appeared in our lives and we were limited on time, we shifted to fast, tasty meals with fewer ingredients. So, we changed our style without realizing it and the blog evolved together with us, until we arrived at dishes prepared from only 4 ingredients.
These meals are quick, easy, and delicious as we are trying to not compromise on the taste.
