Whipping up this recipe is super easy and quick. Just chop up the spinach, toss it with garlic, cream cheese, and cheddar, and bake it till it’s all melted and bubbling.

The mix of cream and cheddar cheese makes this dip so creamy and cheesy, and the garlic gives it that perfect kick.

🥘 Ingredients and Substitutes

Large plate with fresh spinach near a plate with cheddar and cream cheese.
  • Spinach. I went with fresh spinach for this, but hey, frozen works just as well and saves you the chopping hassle.
  • Cream Cheese.
  • Cheese. Cheddar’s my cheese of choice here, but if you’re out or just feeling adventurous, swap it with whatever cheese you’re into. Gorgonzola could add a fun twist.
  • Garlic. I’m a fan of it, but if it’s too much for you, dry garlic’s less in-your-face. Or skip it entirely and throw in some herbs like basil, oregano, thyme, or rosemary instead.

👩‍🍳 Step-by-step Directions

Give the spinach a good rinse and squeeze out the extra water. Chop it up and toss it in a big bowl—makes mixing everything together easier later on.

Crush or grate the garlic, and throw it in with the spinach, cheddar, and cream cheese.

🍽️ Serving Suggestions

For serving, warm’s the way to go. But if you’re prepping ahead, chilling it’s fine—just let it warm up a bit before serving.

I like to dunk crackers, bread, chips, or even veggies like carrot sticks and bell pepper slices into this dip. It’s also fab as a spread on sandwiches or over-baked potatoes. Really, the sky’s the limit, so give this recipe a whirl!

🏆 Expert Tips. What to Pay Attention To?

  • Fresh spinach is king for flavor and texture, but if you’re using frozen, make sure it’s well-thawed and dry.
  • With garlic, start small—you can always add more.
  • Stick with full-fat cream cheese and cheddar for that creamy, dreamy taste.
  • Remember to preheat your oven so the dip gets nice and bubbly without overcooking.

♻️ Make Ahead, Storage and Heating:

Can I Prepare It Ahead?

Absolutely, just mix it up a day in advance and pop it in the oven when your guests arrive.

How Long Does It Last in the Fridge?

In an airtight container, the spinach dip will stay good for up to 4 days in the fridge without losing its flavor.

Can You Freeze the Spinach Dip?

Sure thing, freeze it in an airtight container for up to 6 months. Just remember to thaw it in the fridge overnight before you need it.

How to reheat it?

The oven or microwave works best for reheating the spinach dip.
