🥘 Ingredients and Substitutes

Chicken breast, ala king sauce, butter, spinach and garlic on a table..
  • Butter. We are using butter to fry the chicken breasts in it. If you don’t like to use butter for frying, you can substitute it with the frying oil you usually use.
  • Garlic. You can omit it altogether or use dried garlic instead.
  • Chicken Breast. You can use other parts of the chicken. You can use a rotisserie chicken to shorten the cooking time even more. In this case, just add the a la king sauce and spinach over it and cook for about 5 minutes until the spinach softens.
  • Seasonings. I used a simple mix of salt and pepper. Feel free to add any other favorite spices.
  • A la King Sauce. I used a homemade a la king sauce, but if you want to shorten the cooking time and process, you can use your favorite store-bought a la king sauce.
  • Spinach. I used fresh spinach, but you can easily replace it with frozen spinach.

👩‍🍳 Step-by-step Directions

If you decide to make everything from scratch like me, then take a frying pan, and melt butter in it.

Meanwhile, clean the garlic cloves, cut them into halves, and fry them in the melted butter for about 30 seconds.

After this, add the fresh spinach and cook it for about 5 minutes or until it softens.

Pro Tip: Take care not to cook the spinach for too long because it will become too soft and will have an unpleasant taste and texture.

🏆 Expert Tips. What to Pay Attention To?

  • Be sure to season your chicken with salt and pepper before cooking. This will add flavor and enhance the taste of the dish.
  • Pay attention to not overcook the chicken. Overcooking the chicken will result in tough and dry meat. Cook the chicken until it’s just cooked through, and remove it from the pan to avoid overcooking.
  • If you have fresh spinach, consider using it, as it will add an earthy flavor to the sauce.
